Muhammadu Buhari University (MBU) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, Nigeria.

The institution was formerly known as the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

On 13th July 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the renaming of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) to Muhammadu Buhari University (MBU), in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, following his passing.

MBU Admission Requirements

1. MBU must be your first choice of institution on the JAMB CAPS portal.
2. You must have scored a minimum of 150 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
3. You must have at least five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in your O’Level results (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB).
4. Your O’Level results must not be more than two sittings.
5. You must be at least 16 years old to be considered for MBU 2025 admission.
